The Northridge Ice Hockey team was founded in 1972. It was the first non-varsity and club sport on campus. The Matadors were also a founding member of the Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association, along with UCLA and Cal Tech. The team competes in Pacific Collegiate Hockey Association and the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The team competes at a high level against other non-varsity programs nationwide. Since the team is considered non-varsity, players are not given scholarships. The team is partially funded by the CSUN Associated Students, with the rest funded by player dues, sponsorship and donations. The team plays 20-30 games a season, practices 2-3 times a week from August through March, with dryland and weight training twice a week. If you're interested in playing for the Matadors you can fill out a PLAYER PROFILE here, save the file and email it to the Coaching staff at
