After one of the most successful seasons in team history, the CSUN hockey team has gained a lot of notoriety on campus.

Following the team's return from the National Championships in March, the team's leadership received a standing ovation from the Associated Students Senate. The Senate congratulated the team on their successful season and wished the team luck in the coming year.

The team was further recognized at the annual Clubs and Organizations Ceremony on May 5, 2010. The Ice Hockey team won Sports Club of the Year for the second consecutive year. The team was also nominated for organization of the year on campus, but lost to the CSUN Filipino American Student Association, which raised $52,000 for charity.

Though the team won only one award at the ceremony, Captain and President JP Gale was honored out of the 1,180 student officers on campus as the Most Outstanding Officer of 2009-10 year. JP received personal congratulations from Dr. Sonja Daniels Associate Director of Student Development, Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. William Watkins and CSUN President Dr. Jolene Koester.
