The Gale family made their impact on the awards with all three Gales receiving an award in the Pacific Division. The Matadors’ leading scorer Chris Gale was honored with the PCHA’s most valuable player award. In addition Chris was named a 2nd Team All American, 1st Team All Pacific Division and Pacific Division Player of the Year. Chris finished the season with a whopping 67 goals, 72 assists for 139 points in 31 games to lead the country in scoring.

Matadors captain and graduating senior JP Gale was named to the 1st team All Pacific Division, with 13 goals, 50 assists and 63 points, second in scoring for defenseman in the country.

Head Coach Steve Gale was named the Pacific Division Coach of the Year after leading the Matadors to a 24-6-1 record on the season and their first appearance at the National Championship. 

Matadors alternate captains Anthony Kendryna and AJ Bernhardt were named to the Pacific 2nd team. Kendryna finished 2nd in the nation for scoring with 54 goals, 65 assists for 119 points. Defenseman AJ Bernhardt finished the year with 15 goals, 33 assists and 48 points.  

Matadors winger Jack Avetissian was named to the 3rd Pacific team, Jack finished the season 6th in scoring in the nation, with 30 goals and 57 assists for 87 points. Matadors’ goalie Ron Dierkes joined Avetissian on the 3rd Pacific team and was also awarded the Goalie of the Year in the PCHA’s Southern Division. Ron was 2nd in the country with 19 wins on the season.  

Captain JP Gale was also named to the ACHA’s All Academic Team for the third straight year. The Matadors will look to carry this season’s success over to next year, with a strong recruiting class coming in and all three of their top scorers returning next season.
